Blogging, Building Your Online Business

Blogging for an income is a well known business model. And the idea is especially appealing because it does not require a lot of technical know how, or advanced computer skills to make it work. The theory of blogging for an income is pretty sound. You put interesting and useful content on your blog regularly, attract loyal visitors and promote a product to them. Or put some adsense code on your blog for people to click on. Blogging for profits is a potentially profitable business model but few bloggers actually manage to make a regular income with their blogs. The problem is they do not have the right focus Writing a blog for the purpose of making an income online is a business with the same requirements as a brick and mortar business. And as with any business you need to work at it and learn it and be professional about it to make an income. I know. You have probably seen all those e-books that promise you will start earning within 15 minutes or make a fortune overnight while doing nothing. What you do not see is the truth which is that you can make a lot of money from your blog, but it takes time and a lot of effort to build a blog into a reliable source of income
Basic Requirements to Build a Successful Blog Working Plan. Those who fail to plan plan to fail is a true saying. Planning is crucial to your business. You cannot just decide to write posts as and when the feeling takes you on whatever topic comes to mind. You have to plan the topics, the frequency of posting, the audience you are targeting, when you will blog, how long you will work on your blog for. Plan, plan, plan Ability to Work Hard. No-one makes a significant amount of money from their business without a putting in some hard work and long hours. The concept of the four hour working week is just a concept. Expect to spend as much time building your blog as you would in an average day job. Yes it's back to 9 to 5 Monday to Saturday. At least in the beginning while you are trying to get your business off it's feet. Realistic Expectations. It is easy to get disillusioned with your blogs performance initially, especially if you bought one of those get rich overnight e-books we talked about earlier. Forget about the hype and have reasonable expectations. It helps you stay for the long run. So in the first month, have a target of having a reasonable number of visitors and say earning $10 from the blog. Then once you have achieved that increase your expectations. So that by the time your blog has been up for 6 months, your expected earnings could be up to $300 and because you have been steadily building things up, you'll probably achieve this income Blog Visitors. Your blog is not going to make you any money if you do not have visitors. So again in your planning stage you should have decided on what methods you will concentrate on to get visitors to your blog. Not any old blog hit but targeted visitors that are actually interested in your content. To make an income from your blog that is significant, you will be aiming to get thousands of visitors per day. Monetization. How are you going to make money from the blog. Adsense is an easy and good option if you have a lot of daily traffic to your blog. However if your readership is small but loyal, then perhaps affiliate links is a better option. Just remember, if you do not have some form of monetization on your blog, you are not going to make any money So like we said earlier, the theory of blogging for a living is a sound one but how much you make from it depends on your dedication to your blog's success. |
