Divorce, Leave The Kids Out Of It

Divorce is never pleasant no matter how cool and communicative the couple are. But divorce can be made as pain free as possible where there is the will. Especially when children are in the equation Unfortunately from time to time marriages do not work out. Blaim it on growing apart or developing into people with different needs or just having married for the wrong reasons. Whatever the reason for the divorce, it happens But as responsible adults we owe it to our kids to make sure that They are not scarred by the process
They do not witness our bitter disputes
Most important, they do not ever feel that they are responsible for the break down in the marriage Unfortunately when a marriage fails, we use every and any weapon against the other person. And the easiest and most readily available weapon is the children. But what is this pulling back and forth doing to your long term relationship with the children and the emotional well being of these kids? As responsible parents, no matter what the outcome of the marriage is, we need to learn to leave the children out of our disputes. A simple exercise is to always check what your motives are before any interactions involving you, your estranged spouse and the children In the long term, protecting the children now will ensure a stronger relationship with them later |
