Getting To Grips With Email Marketing

So.. I have a website with an opt in box on it. By the way a opt in box is a form on your website where your visitors through which your visitors can give you their email address. Usually in exchange for something such as an e-book or subscription to your newsletter or perhaps a training video. On this particular website it was an ebook which is relevant and useful to the niche that is my opt in incentive The site is a five page information site and does not get a lot of traffic, in fact the traffic is minimal Anyway from time to time people would opt in to the email list and over time the list grew in number. And from time to time I dutifully sent out the useful tit-bit that I thought could help my readers And this went on for a while. No sales pitch No affiliate links Just pure useful information And one day I came across a really impressive product. So I told my list about it and made left them the link What do you think happened? I got conversions!! What is the point of this little story? Email marketing does work. But you need to build a relationship with your readers before you promote anything to them. If a chap came up to you on the street and said hi I want you to buy this amazing product...well you'd probably keep walking. But if he walks up to you, makes friends with you, gives you tips that you find helpful from time to time.. when that chap says I think this is a useful product, most people would take that recommendation seriously So why do we think email marketing is any different? Take time to build the relationships and the money will follow |
