Twitter, Great Networking Tool

Just a quick word about Twitter.
You probably are aware of Twitter if you are into marketing online. It may also be vaguely familiar if you watched the news story about the airline landing in the Hudson a few weeks ago. The first images of that landing were through an onlookers Twitter account. If you are an internet marketer or niche marketer, Twitter is definitely a tool you must consider adding to your networking tools. So what is Twitter? It simply is a miniblog. So, very much a blog but you are only allowed 140 characters per post. It's not self hosted so you need to sign up for a Twitter account and all your posts [tweets] are added to that account in chronological order.
The really cool thing about Twitter is you can find and network with other people in your niche. Talk about having a guru in your area as a friend, called follower, in Twitter. Every time he or she adds a post to his account, it shows up on your member page, because you are following him. So you can learn from them and can even send private messages to them.
How about traffic?
Well if you have a blog, you can actually set up a feed to your Twitter account so that an exerpt of every new post is displayed on your account and also on the accounts of all of your followers. If your blog post has a compelling enough title, they will want to read more and click on the link to your blog.
So how do you maximize twitter for your business?
By building a wide network of followers. The more relationships you build, the wider the reach of your account and influence.
Obviously like any other social networking site, it really is about networking and taking the time to build relationships.

Sign up for your own Twitter account at Twitter.com. It's straight forward. And start writing your own miniposts and networking with other people in your niche
